Event: BAFTA Cymru Awards Location: Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff. Date: Sunday 27th April 2008
We wined, we dined… with some of Wales’ celebrity elite on Sunday, at the 17th annual BAFTA Cymru awards. Black Sheep have proudly been event sponsors for the last nine years as well as official supplier of event styling, through tickets, brochures, menu’s and banner graphics advertising the event during that period.
A big congratulations to the winner ‘Round a Round - Susan Waters / Bedwyr Rees / Robin Evans’ of our sponsored category the ‘Best Youth Programme’ award.
Highlights of the evening included meeting Hollywood A-lister, Ioan Gruffudd, Wales Grand Slam Captain, Ryan Jones and star of the BBC Comedy, Gavin & Stacy, Joanna Page.
We’ve got two new lambs in the pen this week. Firstly, Kim Manson joins us as a Junior Account Executive, after having completed a BA (Hons) in Advertising at Southampton, where she specialised in Brand Management and Integrated Marketing Campaigns. Secondly, Alexis West fills the Graphic Designer position that has been vacant for the past few months. Local lamb, Alexis has recently seen his work published in Computer Arts and Digit Magazine as well as commissions for Sony Erricson.
What ever your favourite colour is we’ve got the mug for you. Whether you like Fruit Tea, Green Tea, Earl Grey or plain old Builder’s Tea, enjoy it in one of our Pantone® Mugs, 10 different colours to match your mood. Why not pop-in for a cuppa sometime soon and don’t forget to bring your next brief!
It’s our 8th year sponsoring Bafta Cymru’s 17th Annual Awards Ceremony. Which is being held for the first time at the Wales Millennium Centre on Sunday 27th April. The work load is manic and as usual its against the clock. Here are some of the concepts that didn’t make the cut.
Black Sheep have recently completed the Re Brand of ‘Plantasia’ a unique tropical haven of unusual and exotic plants and animals in Swansea, for the City & Counties, Culture & Tourism Division.
Black Sheep have been commissioned to produce the Brand Identity for the Gallery ‘Oriel y Parc’, after a 3-way paid creative pitch.
‘A wonderful, insightful and inspirational presentation – clearly demonstrating a passion for the project and an innate understanding of the brief’s core intentions.’
That was the view of Nicola Merriman, Strategic Brand Consultant to Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority on our recent proposal for the re-launch/re-brand of the Pembrokeshire Landscape Gallery, St Davids.
Background to the project:
The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority is currently undertaking its largest ever project - the construction of a gallery to interpret the landscape and heritage of Pembrokeshire. This is a unique venture for any National Park to undertake, and is the result of shared goals and much hard work.
After countless applications and a shortlist of candidates for interview, we’ve not been able to appoint a new member of the flock.
NB: only shortlisted candidates will be contacted! ………………………………………………………………………………………………..
We’re looking for a talented self motivated Graphic Designer, one with a passion for type that borders on the obsessive. You’ll be able to demonstrate a proven agency background, one where you have been responsible for creating innovative solutions to client problems. Being a team player and having the ability to work independently of direction whilst being able to effectively communicate an idea are prerequisite.
Obviously, you’ll be a whiz at all the usual packages and have a sense of detail that’s second to none. In the first instance, apply to our Creative Director (neil@blacksheep.info) outlining why you’re the next member of the flock along with a brief resumé of your career highlights and the 3 examples of work which you consider to be your best.
Salary is commensurate with experience + Health Care package after probationary period. The ability to communicate through the Welsh Language would be seen as a distinct advantage.

We’ve finally gone and joined the social revolution that is Facebook. Check out the flock - past & present, our work, music taste via Last FM widget and post your creative, fun stuff and comments to our fun wall. Get in touch, we’d love to hear from you, you may even bump into other like-minded creatives. You’ll need to search for me ‘Neil Asher’ (with the Black Sheep Logo not personal photo) as businesses can’t register. See you there!
‘That’s great; the more I see the design, the more I love it. Thanks Neil.’
That’s what ‘James Vilares, Widening Access Officer, Cardiff University’ said about our recently completed brochure aimed at 14-17 year olds, who wouldn’t normally be contemplating a higher education.
